People of Singapore

Found this photo when i looked up "people of singapore" on Googleimages. F*kin hilarious right?? hahah almost looks POSED. Must say the photographer had a brilliant eye for the moment. Slacker sian singaporeans of diff races on their super efficient MRT. Throw in a sikh looking up to the sky pondering his minority status for good measure.

Was talking to Ashley about some Israeli friends of his who were born in Australia but left to join the Israeli army. Questionable Israeli foreign policy aside, I found that rather amazing. And i realise that the one thing Singaporeans just wish to siam is military service. If a Aussie kid with a Singaporean PR said 'i wanna go back and serve NS' most singaporeans would respond WTF?? Are you mentally ill?? Granted there are many other ways to display and experience singaporean-ness, but why is NS something that we do not accept as an acceptible part of our identity?

D.Soon did his dissertation on singaporean migrants in Perth and found that (1) most left singapore due to and hence were willing to severe all political ties with singapore, and (2) they keep their singaporeanness alive with regards to food, but its funny that (3) they live in an enclave of singaporeans but DO NOT wish to associated with them (c0s singaporeans are one thing or another ie rude, etc).

I think we're a bunch of ironic paradoxical mixed up freaks. NICE!!!
